Postbaccalaureate Students

Special status majors

If you plan to major in architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture, education, or international studies, contact the academic department for pre-approval prior to applying for admission. If you plan to major in business administration, communication and applied arts, communication disorders and sciences, or music, submit your application for admission and the Office of Admissions then will contact the academic department for departmental approval.

Postbaccalaureate undergraduate admission

If you've earned a bachelor's degree and want to earn a second undergraduate degree, or take additional work without entering a formal degree or certification program, you may be admitted with postbaccalaureate undergraduate status. You'll pay appropriate undergraduate fees.

You should not apply to the Graduate School. Instead, request a Postbaccalaureate Undergraduate Student application from the Office of Admissions, or download the application below. The application deadline is 30 days before the start of the term.

International postbaccalaureate undergraduate students

If you already have an undergraduate degree and want to earn a second undergraduate degree or take only undergraduate level course work at the UO, you may apply for admission as a postbaccalaureate undergraduate student.

International students who want to apply as postbaccalaureate students must send the following documents to the Office of Admissions:

  1. Completed International Undergraduate Application (request a paper application or download the PDF).
  2. Official transcripts from each college or university that you attended.
  3. Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
  4. Statement of purpose explaining your interest in postbaccalaureate study.
  5. Supporting financial documents, including an original bank letter or statement prepared within the last six months to demonstrate that you have adequate financial support to complete your program of study.

Postbaccalaureate graduate admission

If you have a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution and want to take graduate courses, but do not intend to pursue a specific graduate degree, you can apply as a postbaccalaureate graduate student.

Submit the official application form and an official transcript from the college or university from which you received either a bachelor's degree or a subsequent advanced degree to the Graduate School. (University of Oregon graduates do not need to send an official transcript to the Graduate School).
